Dual-axis Centrifugal Mixer for High-viscosity Products

Statement of Work

BACKGROUND: The Bureau of Engraving and Printing (BEP) supports formulation and development work for new inks, coatings, and materials for application in future security products. The BEP is seeking to acquire a mixer capable of mixing small batches of high-viscosity products quickly and with minimal clean-up.

C. 1. SCOPE: The mixer will be used to prepare batches of high-viscosity mixtures in batch-sizes between a half-gallon and a gallon (in metric units between 2 and 4 Liters)

C. 2. SPECIFICATIONS: The mixer needs to have the following features and functions:

Capable of handling high-viscosity materials (over 1 million centipoise)

Mixing capacity up to 2500 grams

Able to mix batch sizes in both half-gallon and one-gallon containers; with the use of pails and/or adapters if needed

Blade-free mixing to minimize clean-up and air entrainment

Works with closed-pail containers (reducing exposure to chemicals and contamination in the mixer)

Variable speed setting to set mixing cycles for a variety of consistencies.

Set-up and operator training materials to be provided. Operator manual to be provided (soft copy or hard).

Technical support available by telephone and/or email.

Minimum of one-year warranty.

C. 3. SCOPE OF INSPECTION

C.3.1 All deliverables will be inspected for contents, and conformance to specifications.

Condition, safety, and function of the equipment will be verified, including the use of any adapters to handle the half-gallon batch capacity.

C.3.2 The Government requires a period not to exceed fifteen (15) work days after receipt of final deliverable items for inspection and acceptance or rejection. If the machine presents any faulty operation during this trial period, contractor will replace the equipment at no cost to the government.
