About this file

This is a budget template spreadsheet for the Academy for Women Entrepreneurs (AWE) FY2025 program. The template is designed to capture detailed cost breakdowns across six main categories: Programming/Personnel, Travel Costs, Lodging, M&IE, Supplies/Materials/Equipment, and Other expenses. Each category contains line items for both ECA funds and cost share contributions from multiple sources. The template includes specific guidance that ECA does not fund laptops or hardware but allows for data cards and mobile hotspots. For USADF-eligible African countries, additional labor costs can be included to support grant application submissions.

The related grant opportunity (PAR-AWE25) is administered by the US Embassy Paramaribo under the Public Diplomacy Programs (CFDA 19.040). It offers $35,000 in FY25 Smith Mundt Public Diplomacy Funds for a 6-12 month performance period starting August 1, 2025. Applications are due January 1, 2025. The program targets female entrepreneurs in Suriname aged 18+ with businesses under 2 years old or viable business ideas. Key requirements include providing U.S.-style online education, fostering business networks, and building sustainable entrepreneurship skills. Recipients must coordinate participant recruitment, program logistics, facilitation, monitoring and evaluation, and maintain regular communication with the Embassy.

- Please make both your proposals and budgets flexibile for potential integration of private sector support, either from Washington or that which you are able to generate in your country.
- For USADF eligible AWE countries in Africa, please consider incorporating additional labor costs for implementers and facilitators to support participants in submitting a grant application for consideration.

Budget Narrative

INSTRUCTIONS: The budget narrative is the portion of the application where posts justify and explain in detail the proposed costs listed in the itemized budget. The narrative helps the Proposal Review Committee better understand how your budget relates to your program activities. To create a competitive budget narrative, be sure to explain exactly what the costs are, how you calculated them, and why they are necessary for your project. If you convert another form of currency to U.S. dollars, you must include the conversion rate. Explain each line item in each category, including funding requested from ECA and cost share. Double check to make sure all numbers listed in the itemized budget match the budget narrative.
