About this file
This document provides specifications for constructing an all-metal fence on the Fremont-Winema National Forest. It outlines requirements for H-braces, T-posts, inline metal posts, and wire spacing. H-braces will use 7' to 8' posts in the ground 3' with a minimum of 46" above ground, spaced 7' to 10' apart depending on soil conditions. Uprights will be 2 7/8" diameter metal pipe and cross-bracing can be 2 7/8" or 2 3/8". T-posts will be heavy-duty installed every 16' with a minimum 5 1/2' height. Inline metal posts will be used every 160' and can be 2 3/8" or 2 7/8" diameter pipe. Wire spacing will be 18"-28"-42" for three wire or 18"-24"-30"-42" for four wire, with the top wire barbed and bottom wire smooth.
The related federal contract opportunity is for constructing approximately 44,880 linear feet of 4-strand barbed wire fence across three line items on the Paisley Ranger District. The old damaged fence will need to be removed and disposed of before construction of the new fence. The solicitation number is 1240BH21Q0040 for the Brattain Fire Fence 2.0 project through the Department of Agriculture Forest Service R6-Pacific Northwest Region.
