STATEMENT OF WORK (SOW) FOR
Aluminum-Oxide Blast Booth
18 January 2024
1.0 Scope
This SOW is for the Firm Fixed Price procurement of an Aluminum-Oxide Blast Booth, for the
Prototype, Manufacturing, and Test Department (PMTD), in accordance with the requirements listed below. This procurement will also include the removal/demolition of an existing
Aluminum-Oxide Blast Booth which is getting replaced by the new system.
2.0 Requirements
2.1 New System General Requirements
One (1) Aluminum-Oxide Blast Booth System which will replace an existing system that is currently in place.
Minimum Requirements that must be clearly shown as met in all proposals are listed as follows:
1. Blast media has to be 60/80 aluminum oxide
2. Minimum interior booth size of 14’ Length x 12’ Width x 8’ Height
3. Maximum floor space for booth is 20’ Length x 13’ Width
4. Pneumatic recovery system/floor recovery ducts
5. Air centrifuge, high balanced reclaim separation system
6. System operates at 1000-1400 Cubic Feet per Minute (CFMs)
7. Pneumatic cut off switch
8. Media flow control valve
9. Work table that is removable when needed
10. Uses HEPA Filters in recovery system and elsewhere
11. Minimum 10 Gage steel wall construction
12. Safety lock switches on all doors
13. LED Lighting
14. Wall curtains that are a minimum 1/8” black neoprene rubber
15. Abrasive storage hopper that is minimum 6ft squared
16. Blast hose 1 ¼” Inner Diameter and 1 7/8” Outer Diameter, minimum 50’ length
17. Blast Nozzle 3/8” Inner Diameter boron carbide
18. Cooling air tube for operators helmet has to have 15-30 CFM
19. Breathing air filter, three stage and includes activated charcoal, activated alumina and fiberloft polyester material
20. Carbon monoxide alarm
21. System power has to be 480 volt 3 phase
22. On site start up and training for 3 operators and 3 mechanics
23. All parts, operator, and services manuals must have 2 hard copies provided
24. 24 month parts warranty
25. Currently in place foundation that is 6” thick will suffice for the proposed system.
Foundation requirements for the proposed system need to be provided, if applicable
2.2 Removal/Demolition of Existing Equipment
As part of this contract, the vendor must provide services to remove/demolish the old
Aluminum-Oxide Blast Booth that is currently in place. This includes, but is not limited to:
1. Providing labor and equipment to disassemble all existing blast room equipment currently installed on site. Existing equipment to be removed includes sandblasting room, recovery floor, dust collector, blast pot, bucket elevator, feed hopper, HEPA exhaust filter, duct work and any other small items associated with the current blast room set up.
2. All equipment will be removed from the building and loaded onto trucks for removal from site. Contractor to direct where equipment will be delivered. If equipment is to be disposed of, contractor will coordinate trucking and/or dumpsters with a local scrap recycling facility.
3. Mechanical demolition also to include disconnecting compressed air supply. All lines will be temporarily capped as required during construction.
2.3 Government Inspection and Acceptance
Government personnel shall complete inspection and acceptance of the unit at the destination after system start up and training have been completed.
3.0 Packaging, Preservation, and Shipping
Shipments shall be packaged and transported (FOB Destination) via safe, secure, reliable, and traceable means of transportation and provide protection from normal climatic/weather conditions and incidental mishandling during shipping to prevent any damage or loss during shipment. All shipments under this contract shall be addressed to the Naval Air Warfare Center
Aircraft Division Lakehurst as indicated below. Shipping costs need to be incurred by the contractor who is doing the shipping. All exterior shipping containers/packaging shall at a minimum be marked with the information listed below and the Contract Number.

4.0 Period of Performance
The period of performance for this contract is as follows:
30 days from award site visit and walkthrough is conducted.
180 days from award removal of old system is completed.
240 days from award new system is delivered.
300 days from award new system is installed, declared operational, and training completed.
