This document provides specifications for removing existing exhibits and assembling and installing new exhibits at National Park Service sites. The contractor will remove and dispose of existing exhibit structures and fill all holes from removed sign structures. All new exhibits must be assembled according to manufacturer specifications. The contractor is responsible for locating underground utilities before excavation or installation and coordinating alternate installation locations if needed to avoid utilities. Installation sites must remain open to visitors with only the immediate work areas closed off. Shipping containers and packing materials not retained for reuse must be recycled on site.

SECTION 1. Remove, Assemble, and Install
1.1 Remove existing exhibits and assemble and install new exhibits so that the exhibits are complete and ready for use.
1.1.1 Remove and dispose of existing exhibit structures. Where sign structures are removed, all holes and surrounding ground area at the removal site shall be filled and repaired.
1.1.2 Assemble all exhibits according to manufactures specifications.
1.1.3 Install new exhibits.
1.1.3.A The contractor shall ensure that all underground utilities are located and flagged before any excavation and sign installation occurs. The contractor shall bear the responsibility of costs of any repairs if the site is not surveyed and flagged prior to installation. Where installation problems may occur due to underground utilities the contractor shall inform the COR in writing and coordinate an alternate location for the sign or shall hand dig the site.
1.1.3.B The general installation site shall be open to visitors during the installation period. The immediate area where the work is occurring shall be closed off by the contractor with stanchions, caution tape, and “Do Not Enter” signs.
1.1.3.C The contractor shall recycle shipping containers and packing materials at the installation site which they do not retain for re-use.
