About this file

This document is an amendment to a solicitation for wayside exhibit design, fabrication, and installation services at Badlands National Park. The National Park Service is seeking proposals to develop 35-40 new interpretive wayside exhibits at locations throughout the park, with all existing signs to be removed and recycled by the selected contractor. The production budget for fabrication is estimated between $230,000-$240,000 and should include proofs/samples, exhibit structures/bases, graphic panels, and installation. The amendment provides responses to bidder questions to clarify the number and types of proposed exhibits, components included in the production budget, responsibility for removal and disposal of existing signs, and requirements for accessible PDF deliverables and vehicle access to all installation locations.

DESCRIPTION OF AMENDMENT

BADLANDS NATIONAL PARK

The purpose of this amendment is to respond to questions received by the date and time specified in Solicitation Number 140P2122R0022 for Badlands National Park.

THEREFORE:

1. On pg. 5-6 of the solicitation, under section 3. Planning and Design Services, the wayside proposal outlines 52 - 57 wayside exhibits, and the wayside plan outlines 35

- 40 exhibits. We assume this means the Park will narrow down the initial proposed exhibits to between 35 - 40 to be developed and eventually fabricated.

Response: Correct, also some may be duplicated and only one layout is required.

2. On pg. 7 of the solicitation, under section 4. Fabrication and Installation, the production budget is listed as $230,000 - 240,000. Can you confirm which of the categories on the cost estimate sheet are included in the “production budget”. We also assume we should use the entire budget in our proposal.

Response: Sections of the IGE to be included in the production budget are:

Proofs/Samples/Mock-ups/Prototypes, Exhibit Structures/Bases, Display Objects and Specialty Elements, Graphic Panels, and Removal and Installation.

The production budget should be based on what your estimates are for this project.

3. Is there any information on the existing signs that will need to be removed - exhibit type, location, mounting, etc? Does the Park have access to a disposal site where the bases may be disposed of?

Response: The existing waysides that will need to be removed are mix of wayside styles that include low profiles, uprights, uprights with roofs, double-wide uprights, double-wide uprights with roofs, and wall mounts.

The contractor is responsible for removing, disposing, and recycling of the existing wayside exhibits, so the contractor will need to contact a disposal site where the wayside exhibits can be disposed and recycled.

4. Since the type and quantity of exhibits and tactile elements are yet to be defined, should we input lump sums into the cost estimate sheet or define them for the sake of cost estimating?

Response: Define them.

Solicitation Number 140P2122R0022

5. Does the Park want accessible PDFs included in the close-out files?

Response: Yes.

6. For installation, can we assume all of the potential exhibit locations are accessible by vehicle?

Response: All of the locations are accessible by vehicle with some having a short walk to the actual wayside from the parking lot.
