About this file
This document is an attachment to a federal solicitation (FA875126Q0987) specifying technical requirements for a Q-switched ion trapping ablation laser system.
The requirement is for one (1) ion trapping ablation laser that must meet or exceed detailed specifications across multiple performance parameters. Key technical requirements include: Q-switched laser operation at an output wavelength of 532nm (±10nm tolerance) with pulse energy between 5mJ minimum and 40mJ maximum, with full energy available on the first shot. Pulse energy stability must be less than 5% variation between individual isolated single shots, with particular emphasis on first shot stability since continuous rep rate operation is not anticipated. The laser must have single shot capability with BNC cable trigger preferred, with optional higher rep rate capability. The beam profile must be single mode Gaussian shape with low excitation of higher order modes. The system must include an IR filter/separator to isolate the 532nm beam from the 1064nm fundamental wavelength, an output power attenuation method, a diode-based pump laser (excluding flashlamp designs), air cooling (not water cooling), and free space coupling output configuration.

FA875126Q0987 Attachment #1
Qty. 1 Ion Trapping Ablation Laser meeting or exceeding the following specifications:
• Laser Operation o Q-Switched
• Output Wavelength o 532nm +/-10nm
• Pulse Energy (at 532nm) o Minimum needed- 5mJ, Maximum allowed- 40 mJ o Full energy should be available at the first shot
• Pulse Energy Stability (at 532nm) o <5% pulse energy variation between individual isolated single shots o We care most about first shot energy stability, since laser will not be used on a continuous rep rate
• Rep Rate o Must have single shot capability, BNC cable trig preferred o Can have option to go to higher rep rate
• Free Space Beam Profile o Single mode gaussian shape, low excitation of higher order modes
• IR Filter/Separator o 532nm beam should be separated from the 1064nm fundamental
• Attenuation o Must have method of output power attenuation
• Pump Laser o Diode based (no flashlamps)
• Cooling o Air cooled (not water cooled)
• Coupling Output o Free space
