About this file

This document is a Local Preference Program attachment from the City of Long Beach detailing eligibility requirements and application procedures for businesses seeking local preference credit in solicitations.

The City of Long Beach applies five extra credit percentage points to all local businesses that meet defined criteria and an additional five percentage points to local businesses operating from brick and mortar or non-residential locations. A local business is defined as a company or organization maintaining its principal place of business in a fixed location within the City of Long Beach, possessing a current City of Long Beach business license, and holding a sellers permit if applicable. Businesses must affirmatively request the preference in Attachment C and provide supporting documentation to claim eligibility.

To qualify for local preference, businesses must submit a current, valid business license from the City of Long Beach showing a place of business within city limits and a current, valid seller's permit (sales tax permit) showing a place of business within city limits if applicable. Applicants must certify their eligibility by selecting yes or no on the form, and if selecting yes, must indicate whether their business location is brick and mortar/commercial/non-residential or residential. Failure to complete this section will result in ineligibility. The form requires submission of the business license number, seller's permit number, the address associated with the business license, and the signature, printed name, and date of an authorized representative.
