About this file

This document is a State of California Bid Specification for wooden pallets, issued by the Department of General Services (DGS) with a revision date of February 10, 2020. The specification is designated as document 3990-01A-01 Revision 1 and is applicable to multiple state agencies and potential vendors supplying wooden pallets for use with low lift pallet trucks or forklift trucks.

The specification details six standard pallet sizes ranging from 42"L x 36"W to 48"L x 48"W, with two primary pallet types: Type 2 (standard rectangular) and Type 4 (single wing). Each pallet size is precisely defined with requirements for top and bottom deck board dimensions, spacing, and construction. The pallets must be constructed of sturdy materials, specifically using 1" x 6" boards, with minimum board counts for top and bottom decks. The document emphasizes that all pallets must be of robust construction to ensure safe goods delivery without damage, though it does not specify pricing, contract duration, or specific procurement terms.
