About this file

This document is a State of California Department of General Services (DGS) Bid Specification #8305-5768_D for a statewide contract covering cotton thermal blankets intended for institutional use. The specification establishes detailed requirements for two types of thermal blankets (Type 1A and Type 2) to be used across California state institutions.

The specification outlines comprehensive technical requirements for the blankets, including precise dimensions of 66.0-inches by 90.0-inches with a (+3.0-inch, -0.0-inch) tolerance, specific color options (White, Blue, Green for Type 1A; Blue and Jade for Type 2), and material specifications mandating two-ply 100% cotton yarn. The blankets must meet rigorous standards for weave construction, hemming, thread quality, breaking strength, weight, and shrinkage. Type 1A blankets require a plain weave with a minimum breaking strength of 62 pounds (warp) and 51 pounds (fill), while Type 2 blankets use a Leno or Mock Leno weave. The specification also includes detailed requirements for workmanship, with strict guidelines on construction quality, defect tolerance, and labeling in accordance with Federal Trade Commission regulations.
