About this file

This document is a State of California Bid Specification for wooden pallets, issued by the Department of General Services (DGS) with a revision date of February 10, 2020. The specification (Bid Specification 3990-01A-01, Revision 1) is designed for multiple agencies and covers the procurement of wooden pallets intended for use with low lift pallet trucks or forklift trucks.

The specification provides detailed technical requirements for two primary pallet types: Type 2 (standard rectangular) and Type 4 (single wing), with six different size configurations ranging from 42"L x 36"W to 48"L x 48"W. The document outlines precise construction specifications for top and bottom deck boards, including minimum board dimensions, placement, and spacing. Each pallet type must be of sturdy construction to ensure safe goods delivery without damage. The specification does not include pricing information, applicable laws, or industry standards, focusing instead on the physical and structural requirements for wooden pallets to be used by California state agencies.
