About this file
This is an Insurance Requirements Notice prepared by the Minnesota Department of Transportation (MnDOT) as an attachment to a Request for Information regarding autonomous mowing equipment. The document outlines mandatory insurance coverage requirements that responders must maintain and provide as Certificates of Insurance prior to commencing work under the demonstration project. Responders must submit evidence of three primary insurance coverages: Commercial General Liability Insurance with minimum limits of $2,000,000 per occurrence and $2,000,000 annual aggregate; Commercial Automobile Liability Insurance with minimum combined single limits of $2,000,000 per occurrence covering owned, hired, and non-owned vehicles; and Workers' Compensation Insurance with statutory coverage including $100,000 per employee for bodily injury by disease, $500,000 aggregate for bodily injury by disease, and $100,000 for bodily injury by accident. The certificate holder address is designated as State of Minnesota Department of Transportation, 395 John Ireland Boulevard, St. Paul, MN 55155.
All insurance policies must name the State of Minnesota as an additional insured to the extent permitted by law, and responders' insurance companies must waive their right to assert state immunity as a defense to claims. Responders exempt from Workers' Compensation insurance under Minnesota Statute 176.041 or those with no employees in the state must provide a written statement from an authorized representative documenting the qualifying exemption. The Commercial General Liability coverage must include premises and operations bodily injury and property damage, personal and advertising injury, blanket contractual liability, and products and completed operations liability. This demonstration project is issued as a Request for Information solely for information gathering and planning purposes and does not constitute a direct solicitation or contract award; information gathered may inform future procurement processes.
