About this file

This document outlines the specifications for a pre-clinical positron emission tomography/single-photon emission computerized tomography/computerized tomography (PET/SPECT/CT) imaging system solicited by the Department of Defense Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences. The Biomedical Research Imaging Core at the University needs to replace an end-of-life imaging system to support animal research. The new system must integrate PET and CT scanning within one gantry at both the hardware and software levels. It should also accommodate simultaneous scanning of different animals on a separate SPECT gantry. Additional requirements include the ability to image at least three mice in the field of view for PET, integrated animal monitoring for three mice, a minimum reconstructed transverse field of view of 11 cm to support larger animals, and respiratory and cardiac gating capabilities. The solicitation also specifies needs for standard phantoms, software licenses, on-site training for a minimum of five days, delivery duties paid to the University, and at least one year of standard warranty and service support.

Pre-clinical Positron emission tomography/single-photon emission computerized tomography/computerized tomography (PET/SPECT/CT) Imaging System.

The Biomedical Research Imaging Core (BRIC) for USU needs to replace an end of life imaging system to support the animal research needs of USU. A new system will need to address the multifaceted imaging requirements of core facilities with speed and efficiency.

The new imaging system needs to meet the following specifications:

PET/SPECT/CT scanner – coincidence PET and CT under the same hood within one gantry integrated both on the hardware and software level.

o SPECT may be included within the gantry, but prefer a separate gantry for the SPECT to be able to perform simultaneous scanning of different animals.

In-vivo small animal imaging system PET correction including CT-based attenuation Image at least 3 mice in one field of view for coincidence PET Integrated animal monitoring for at least 3 mice Trans axial field of view to accommodate animals such as rabbits and ferrets (minimum of 11 cm reconstructed field of view) Respiratory and cardiac gating Standard Phantoms for QC (PET/SPECT (optional)/CT) Software licenses for acquisition, reconstruction and post processing On-site applications training (minimum of 5 days) Parity delivered duty paid to USU, including installation At least 1 year of standard warrantee and service, 3 year preferred
