About this file
This technical specification document is for a Wildland Firefighting Protective Ensemble (WFPE) contract issued by the State of California, specifically for the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection (CAL FIRE). The document is identified as Contract ID 1-25-42-09, Attachment 2, with a technical specification number 4210-TS-0235559RevA, dated October 28, 2025. The specification establishes minimum requirements for wildland firefighting protective gear.
The WFPE includes a yellow jacket and two types of pants - a tactical pant and a work/uniform pant - made from specialized flame-resistant fabrics. The jacket is constructed from a SIGMA 7 oz. blend of meta-aramid, polyamide, para-aramid, and Lenzing FR materials, while the pants use a TENCATE S/469T 7.5 oz. fabric blend. Both garments must comply with National Fire Protection Agency (NFPA) standards 1950, 1970, 1975, and 1977. The specification details precise requirements for sizing (XS-4XL), color (yellow for jacket, midnight navy for pants), construction techniques, pocket configurations, closure systems, labeling, and other technical specifications to ensure firefighter safety and functionality.
