About this file

This document is an attachment titled "Scaffolding Requirements" that details the specifications and dimensions for scaffolding to be used in support of a federal contract opportunity.

The attachment specifies that the scaffolding must be a minimum of 3 feet and maximum of 5 feet away from the base of the Launcher, and maintain this distance up to a height of 6.5 feet from the ground. At 6.5 feet, a second level of scaffolding is required to allow workers to access the higher parts of the Launcher, with a minimum clearance of 6.5 feet between the two levels. The total height of the scaffolding enclosure must be a minimum of 13 feet from the ground. Similar clearance distances are required on the sides of the Launcher.

The related federal contract opportunity is for "Scaffolding Service USS BATTAN (LHD-5)" solicitation number W51AA124Q0089, issued by the Department of the Army. The contract is for non-personnel scaffolding services at the Naval Station Norfolk.

Scaffolding Requirements Note: Pictures and dimensions are not drawn to scale

Scaffolding Distance/Height

The scaffolding needs to be a minimum of 3 ft away from the base of the Launcher with a max of 5 ft where possible.

3 ft – 5 ft 3 ft – 5 ft Not drawn to scale

This 3’-5’ distance needs to be maintained up to a 6 1/2 ft height from the ground to give the Team enough working space.

6 ½ ft

At 6 1/2 ft, there needs to be another level of scaffolding made for the workers to stand on in order to work on the higher parts of the Launcher. This second level must be far enough away so the doors can be fully opened .

3 ½ ft 3 ½ ft

From the second level, the roof would need to be a minimum of 6 1/2 ft above this level for the team to be able to work on the second level. This would give a total height of at 13 ft from the ground to the top of the enclosure.

3 ft – 5 ft 6 ½ ft 1ft-2ft Min 6 ½ ft The same distances and heights need to be maintained on the sides also, where possible. It is obvious the distances will be maintained on the left side. Ideally, get as close to these distances as possible on the left side near the wall.
