Performance Work Statement (PWS) Project: Potato Processing Floor Polishing_USDA-ARS, East Grand Forks MN
GENERAL INFORMATION
1.0 Performance Work Statement: The concrete processing floor (4650 square feet) will be polished.
The existing surface is ground to remove grease and paint, a penetrating sealant is applied, and floor surface is treated with an 800 grit polishing finisher. The floor will routinely be exposed to vegetable oil, potato wastewater, food processing steam, and pallet jack/forklift wheel traffic. The contractor supplied sealant and finished polished surface will permit routine cleaning with a neutral pH detergent and corded janitorial buffer/scrubbing machines.
2.0 Background: Existing floor covering is peeling that has resulted in areas of exposed concrete intermixed with patches of painted floor surfaces. The exposed concrete floor is difficult to properly clean and the processing floor is aesthetically unappealing to host required stakeholder tours and field days.
