About this file

This memorandum provides an interim safe-to-fly certification for the Aircrew Body Armor Vest system to be used on H-1, HH-60, and CV-22 aircraft. The certification expires in January 2022 and applies to all listed vest kit part numbers for applicable aircrew positions. The certification is contingent on equipment inspections, training personnel on water survival and flotation procedures, and using approved flame-resistant uniforms and moisture-wicking layers. The memorandum details points of contact for the certification at the Department of the Air Force and establishes distribution to major air commands.

A related solicitation seeks proposals for First Spear Aircrew Body Armor Vest Kits. Inquiries about the requirements can be directed to the specified contracting officer by email.
