SPECIFICATION

LBIS & LVDT Rigid Stage System for 155mm Cannon Gun Tube

1.0 SCOPE

This specification describes the requirement for a 35-foot-long horizontal Delivery Stage and Heavy-Duty Barrel Support Stand capable of supporting up to 30-foot-long 155mm howitzer tubes. The deliverable package shall include a 155mm LDVT chamber gauging kit.

The 155mm LDVT chamber gauging shall employ a set of opposed high-resolution LVDT sensors that can be automatically actuated to contact the chamber at several locations along its length. During normal operation, the LVDT sensors shall be in the retracted position. After the sensor has been driven to a location of interest, the LVDT sensors shall be activated and extend radially until contact is made with the chamber surface. The sensors shall then rotated 360 degrees in order to generate a highly accurate measurement of the chamber geometry. The sensors are not expected to operate in the “Swiss Notch” found in the M284 and M776 cannons. Data from these measurements shall be transmitted to a YPG-owned LP-5000™ series instrument and stored for processing and analysis using existing LaserViewer™ Analysis software.

The system shall be capable of operating with YPG-owned laser bore mapping scanners for non-contact bore measurement of 155mm cannon gun tubes.

The system shall be:

· Compatible with YPG’s existing LP-5000 controller

· Capable of precision profiling of 155mm chambers using LVDT technology, with typical accuracy +/-0.0005 inch (+/- 0.0127mm) or better.

· Compatible with Laser Bore Inspection Sensors (LBIS) for 155mm cannons

1.1 GENERAL DOCUMENTATION

The following documents shall be supplied with the system:

· Certification of calibration of the LDVT sensor

· Certification of weight carrying capacity of Heavy-Duty Support Stand

· Certifications of Warranty of any/all commercial OEM equipment

1.2 ENVIRONMENT

The system shall operate in a shop with:

· Ambient temperatures ranging from 10 to 45 degrees C

· Relative humidity between 10 and 95% (non-condensing)

· Available power 120-240 VAC (+/- 10%) at 50-60 Hz

2.0 GENERAL REQUIREMENT

The system deliverables shall include the following major components:

· 1 ea. 155mm chamber profiling LVDT Sensor (LPS) with Dual Opposing Sensors

· 1 ea. Rigid Sensor Delivery Unit (SDU)

· 1 ea. Heavy Duty Barrel Support Stand

· 2 ea. Adjustable Barrel Support Mounts

· 1 ea. Adjustable Barrel Support Mount (Extended)

· System Accessories

· Installation at YPG In addition, the vendor shall upgrade the YPG-owned LP-5000 controller to support 3-axes of motion, and integrate the instrument into the system.
