About this file
This Statement of Work (SOW) details the installation of an Autometrix/Radium CNC Cutting Machine at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard in Kittery, Maine. The procurement is part of a Community of Practice (COP) initiative involving all four public shipyards to modernize insulation manufacturing processes. The specific equipment is a Radium Precision Cutting/Plotting System with a 73" x 10' cutting area, to be installed in Building 166.
Key requirements include installation and setup by a recognized and trained Autometrix technician, compliance with stringent safety and cybersecurity protocols, and adherence to hazardous energy control procedures. The shipyard will provide assistance including a machine operator, maintenance personnel, and an engineer from Code 982. Contractors must meet extensive safety requirements, including wearing personal protective equipment, and are subject to security restrictions such as limitations on electronic devices and proof of U.S. citizenship. The work is to be performed during normal working hours (7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday through Friday), with potential for weekend work requiring 48-hour advance permission.
