PURCHASE DESCRIPTION

FOR

Circular Geometry Measuring Machine

1.0 SCOPE: This procurement is for a replacement Circular Geometry Measuring Machine (CGMM) that will be used at U.S. Air Force Precision Measurement Equipment Laboratories (PMELs). The

CGMM will be used to measure the out-of-roundness, concentricity, and perpendicularity.

2.0 PERFORMANCE REQUIREMENTS:

2.1 The CGMM shall have the capability to measure out-of-roundness, concentricity, circular flatness, perpendicularity of a plane to the parts center axis, run-out, and total run-out.

2.2 The CGMM shall have a Mechanical Bearing.

2.3 Weight Capacity: Rotary Table/Bearing shall be able to support a minimum of 40 pounds.

2.4 The CGMM shall have Controller/Software assisted Tilt and Center Alignment for spheres and cylinders. The software assisted alignment shall provide instructions for positioning the rotary table and which adjusting knobs require adjustment. Furthermore, graphics shall depict the real-time change occurring as the adjustments are being performed.

2.5 Reference Circles used for measurement evaluation shall at minimum include:

2.5.1 Minimum Circumscribed Circle (MCC).

2.5.2 Maximum Inscribed Circle (MIC)

2.5.3 Least Squares Circle (LSC).

2.6 The CGMM shall include multiple settings for Undulations Per Revolution (UPR):

2.6.1 Common UPR Settings include 15, 50, 150, and 500.

2.7 The CGMM shall include multiple settings for Filtering.

2.8 The CGMM shall have the following measurement Units: Inches, Microinches, Millimeters, and Micrometers.

2.9 Graph Resolution, Circular: The resolution shall be able to be changed after the measurement is accomplished. Resolutions shall include, but not limited to 2.0 µin per div,

5.0 µin per div, 10.0 µin per div, 20.0 µin per div, 50.0 µin per div, 100.0 µin per div, 200.0 µin per div, and 500.0 µin per div.

2.10 Amplifier Range(s): The displayed amplifier shall have at least one range that covers approximately +/- 0.04 inches. It is acceptable to have multiple ranges that are smaller and/or larger.

2.11 Amplifier/Gage Head Uncertainty: Shall not exceed 0.5% of measured range or step height.

2.12 Axial Bearing Error, measured by gaging on top of the Precision Sphere: Shall not exceed

2.5 µin TIR.

2.13 Radial Bearing Error, measured using Precision Sphere near Rotary Table Top using

Reversal Measurement Process and Software: Shall not exceed 2.5 µin TIR.

2.14 Coning Bearing Error, Calculated based on the two Radial Bearing Error Measurements accomplished using the Reversal Measurement Process and Software: Shall not exceed 2.5 µin + (0.5 µin TIR per inch above rotary tabletop).

2.15 Warm-Up Time: Shall not exceed 10 minutes.

3.0 FUNCTIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

3.1 The CGMM shall be a bench top model. The CGMM and Controller shall be designed to set on top of a 24ò x 36ò bench or smaller.

3.2 The CGMM shall have shall have Controller/Software assisted Tilt and Center Alignment.

3.3 The CGMM shall be interfaced with Controller.
