About this file
This document outlines salient characteristics for wrestling mats required under the FY23 USAFA Wrestling Mats and Underlayments solicitation issued by the Department of the Air Force Headquarters Air Force Academy. The wrestling mats must use a 1.25 inch thick PVC nitrile foam core and be two-sided for use on both sides of the mat. The mats must meet ASTM E 84-05 Class A fire rating and be coated on all sides and edges with polyvinyl coating. The foam core is required to meet specified standards for compression, tensile strength, elongation and shock absorption. It must also achieve a maximum G-force reading of less than 100 when tested with an electronic impact surface tester. Independent laboratory testing results may be required to verify specifications are met.
