Start Up Sequence

The following preoperational procedures assist in verifying that the barrier system is ready for normal operation.

Pre-Op Checklist for Vehicle Barrier Barrier: ______________________________________

Item
Task Description
Completed
1
Ensure visually that there are no pedestrians, personnel, or vehicles in close proximity to the Barrier System during start up.
2
Ensure that there are no objects over, under or around the Barrier System, and that the Barrier System will be free to operate unobstructed.
3
Perform a walk around inspection of the Barrier System Installation, making certain that all electrical and hydraulic connections are safe, correct and secure. Also check for any signs of binding or damage, and or other general conditions that would make the barrier system unsafe or inoperable.
4
Ensure that the barrier base trough is not flooded or has standing water underneath.
5
Ensure that there are no hydraulic fluid leaks, especially under the barrier cylinder, and at the interconnecting hydraulic lines.
6
Ensure all EFO buttons are not activated, if this option is provided.

Pre-Op Check for the HPU and Electrical Enclosure

Item
Task Description
Completed
1
Ensure that all hydraulic interconnection liens are connected
2
Ensure that any unused port is capped or plugged
3
Ensure that there is sufficient ventilation for the HPU air cooled motor
4
Ensure that there are no rags, dirt, debris, or other foreign objects around the HPU, and that the HPU is clean.
5
Ensure that there are no hydraulic fluid leaks
6
The hydraulic Reservoir is filled with the proper hydraulic fluid
7
Ensure that there is a sufficient hydraulic fluid level in the reservoir, which can be observed using the fluid level sight gauge.
8
Ensure that the Accumulator is precharged with nitrogen gas, to the proper pressure.
9
Ensure that the Accumulator Vent Valve is fully closed and tightly seated
10
Ensure that the Hand Pump “T” bleed valve is closed and tightly seated (if supplied), and the handle is removed and stowed.
11
Ensure that the hydraulic fluid is at an acceptable temperature to start the pump

Cont’d 12- 20 next page Task Description

Completed

12
Temporarily start with the electrical disconnect on the electrical enclosure OFF but ensure the facility power electric is on.
13
Ensure incoming fused breakers are reset and properly seated
14
Ensure that the electrical disconnect located o the electrical enclosure is ON
15
Ensure that the UPS is switch “On” functional
16
“JOG” Start (quickly turn on and then off) the motor to ensure that the pump motor direction of rotation is correct.
17
Ensure that the pump and motor start and run
18
Ensure that the Accumulator is charged to an acceptable operating pressure, which can be observed on the hydraulic supply pressure gauge.
19
Ensure that the pump and motor stop, after the accumulator is charged
20
Ensure that the Electrical Enclosure door is closed, and properly sealed

Pre-Op Check for the Remote Operator Control Panel

Item
Task Description
Completed
1
The Panel ON indicator is illuminated
2
All armed indicators are illuminated
3
The EFO indicator is off and all EFO buttons are NOT activated, if this option is provided.

All Barriers located at the following location have been properly serviced, maintenance inspection as per manufacturer guidelines and placed back into EFO mode or according to site requirements.
