About this file
This document provides special packaging instructions for an EyeSafe laser rangefinder subsystem. It specifies that the rangefinder should be packaged with a double thickness of lens tissue and cushioning secured with tape. It should then be placed in a bag and inserted into a reusable container which is to be marked "Reusable Container - Do Not Destroy." The rangefinder is to be packaged according to these instructions to meet requirements for MIL-STD-2073-1. As an alternative, if the rangefinder is in condition code F, it can be overwrapped with cushioning and placed in a Type III container.
The related federal contract opportunity is a combined synopsis/solicitation issued by the Defense Logistics Agency Distribution seeking packaging inserts and containers in accordance with MIL-STD-2073. It does not provide pricing terms or response dates. The solicitation is for SPI containers but no further details are given on the products or services required.
