B. IF THE VALVE ASSEMBLY, TURRET HAS BEEN CLEANED, PRESERVED, AND PLUGGED, THE FOLLOWING
STEPS MAY BE ELIMINATED. OTHERWISE, PREPARE THE PART AS FOLLOWS:
1. PORTS P6, P9, AND R2 ARE TO BE PLUGGED WITH MS51840-23SS PLUGS AND M83248/1-904 OR MS28778/1 PACKINGS PER MIL-R-83248/1. PARTS P1, P2, P3, P4, P5, , P7, P8, R1, R3, R4, AND R5 ARE
TO BE PLUGGED WITH MIL-C-5501/1 PLUGS (WITH GASKET) OR EQUIVALENT.
2. SPRAY THE FRONT FACE OF ALL EXTERNAL ELECTRICAL CONNECTORS WITH PRESERVATIVE.
C. SECURE WITH TAPE.
D. PLACE THE WRAPPED PART BETWEEN THE TWO PADS.
E. PLACE THE PAD AROUND THE PADS FROM STEP 4, AS IT IS SHOWN ON THE BOTTOM OF PAGE 4.
F. PLACE THE CUSHIONS AROUND THE PREPARED PART AS IT IS SHOWN ON PAGE 4.
G. CLOSE THE CONTAINER IN ACCORDANCE WITH ASTM-D1974, METHOD 2B3.
H. MARK THE CONTAINER WITH THE FOLLOWING NOTE: “WARNING: PRESERVED INTERNALLY WITH FLUID THAT MAY CONTAIN TRICRESYL PHOSPHATE WHICH MAY BE ABSORBED THROUGH SKIN AND PRODUCE PARALYSIS IF TAKEN INTERNALLY. APPROPRIATE PROTECTIVE MEASURES SHOULD BE TAKEN TO
AVOID EXPOSURES.”

I. LEVEL A PACKING SHALL BE ACCOMPLISHED USING WOOD-CLEATED PANELBOARD SHIPPING BOXES, CONFORMING TO ASTM-D 6251, TYPE III, CLASS 2 OR NAILED WOOD BOXES CONFORMING TO ASTM-D
6880, CLASS 2.
LEVEL B PACKING SHALL BE ACCOMPLISHED USING FIBERBOARD BOXES, WEATHER RESISTANT,
CONFORMING TO ASTM-D 5118 OR TRIPLEWALL, CORRUGATED FIBERBOARD BOXES, CLASS CGWR, CONFORMING TO ASTM-D 5168. CLOSURE, SEALING, AND REINFORCEMENT SHALL BE IAW SPECIFIC, APPLICABLE METHODS OF ASTM-D 1974, OR AS REFERENCED IN THE CONTAINER SPECIFICATION.
WHEN THE TOTAL QUANTITY TO BE SHIPPED TO THE SAME DESTINATION EXCEEDS 125 POUNDS, EXTERIOR PACKS WITHOUT SKIDS SHALL BE PALLETIZED IN ACCORDANCE WITH MIL-STD-147.
J. INSPECT THE PRESERVATION, THE UNIT PACK AND THE PACKAGING IN ACCORDANCE WITH MIL-STD-
2073-1 AND THE APPLICABLE CONTAINER SPECIFICATION.
