About this file

This is a Special Packaging Instruction (DD Form 2169) for an engine with container (P/N 57K8929) used by the Defense Logistics Agency. The document provides detailed preservation and packaging requirements for a dressed engine (P/N 12627768) and its reusable container (P/N 12587603).

The instruction outlines specific steps for engine preservation, including the use of preservative MIL-PRF-21260 Type PE-10 for the fuel system, special equipment requirements (24V power supply, slave filters, and hoses), and detailed procedures for preserving various engine components. The unit pack weighs 3,037 lbs (engine: 1,497.5 lbs, container: 1,539.5 lbs) with dimensions of 70.3 x 51.4 x 56.3 inches. Quality assurance provisions require inspection per MIL-STD-2073-1 and A-A-52462. The document includes requirements for desiccant (120 units of MIL-D-3464 Type I), specific marking instructions, and detailed diagrams showing preservation locations and starter hookup procedures.
