Provide Interface With Other AHRQ/OCKT Contractors

Other contractors may be performing other AHRQ/OCKT support services in areas associated with the requirements of this contract. An example is the contractor who supports the AHRQ communications, dissemination, and publishing activities of the Agency. That contractor will be closely involved with many comparative effectiveness projects, and smooth relationships are extremely important.

Other contractors that of are of particular significance for this contract are four contractors that will be responsible for managing efforts to improve dissemination and utilization of comparative effectiveness research through academic detailing, regional office partnerships, continuing education, and a publicity center. These contractors will collect metrics related to their initiatives and these metrics will be summarized and analyzed by the Evaluation Contractor.

In addition to the metrics discussed above, each of the four dissemination contractors will collect metrics or other information (to be approved by the COTR) to facilitate the analysis of awareness, understanding, use, and benefits of the dissemination methods that are the subject of each of those contracts.

Awareness, understanding, behavior change/use, and benefits are defined as follows:

· Awareness: The extent to which the AHRQ targeted audiences are aware of comparative effectiveness research studies in general and of AHRQ’s comparative effectiveness research studies.

· Understanding: The extent to which AHRQ targeted audiences understand the general concepts and principles of comparative effectiveness research studies and of specific, designated AHRQ comparative effectiveness research studies.

· Behavior Change/Use: The extent to which AHRQ targeted audiences make use of comparative effectiveness research study results and change their behavior in deciding what medical care they will use.

· Benefits: The extent to which AHRQ targeted audiences have found AHRQ’s comparative effectiveness research studies helpful to them in reaching decisions about medical care.

The four dissemination contractors will also develop case studies of the effective use of comparative effectiveness research health care methods. Such case studies may be useful in providing context for the overall assessment to be prepared by the Evaluation Contractor.

The Government will facilitate initial contact between the Evaluation Contractor and other contractors. The Evaluation Contractor shall provide all further required coordination with other contractor personnel for any task specified in this contract that relates to or impacts any other contracted work.

A requirement of this contract will be coordination between the Evaluation Contractor and the John M. Eisenberg Clinical Decisions and Communications Science Center. The Evaluation Contractor shall assist with further required coordination with Eisenberg Center personnel for any task specified in this contract that relates to or impacts any other contracted work.

It is expected that other AHRQ contractors may at times review work performed under this contract and provide advice and consultation to facilitate the successful implementation of a specific project.
