Description

203.01 This work shall consist of the requirements for the removal and disposing of the buildings, structures, obstructions, concrete slabs and debris, wood piles and the backfilling of the resultant holes and compaction requirements.

Material

203.02 Conform to the following:

Backfill material to be obtained from Government designated sources. Material to be free of excess moisture, muck, frozen lumps, roots, sod or other deleterious material.

Construction Requirements

203.03 Removing Material

Construct structurally adequate debris shields to contain debris within the construction limits. Do not permit debris to enter waterways, travel lanes open to public traffic, or areas designated not to be disturbed.

Raze and remove the buildings, foundations, structures, concrete slabs and other obstructions interfering with the work and not designated to remain.

In excavation areas, backfill and compact cavities left by structural removal with backfill material to the level of the finished ground and landscape so that water will drain away from the excavations. In the resultant excavations of the foundations for Items 203A and 203B, compact the backfill material by two (2) passes of mechanized, vibratory compaction equipment. One (1) pass is down and back on each twelve (12) lift at the width of the compactor. In the other items, compact the backfill material with the hauling and spreading equipment.

03 SPS 203-1 DPG (3/16)

203.04 Disposing of Material

Dispose of all materials and debris off the National Grasslands according to Federal, State and local regulations. Recycle or dispose of all materials legally off the project.

No burying of removed materials to be disposed is allowed on National Grasslands.

203.05 Acceptance
