Pre-bid-Site Visit for Dutch John Helibase Stair Replacement Project 6/8/17
Notes/Questions:
1. Contractors are reminded to pay attention to Sections L and M in the contract documents.
Please address the Rating Criteria including Technical, Past Performance and Biobased Products.
The bid proposals will be rated on these criteria as well as price.
2. Question: Can the height of the sink be raised if necessary to get slope to the existing drain connections if necessary.
a. Answer: Yes up to a maximum rim height of 34 inches. The current rim of the sink is at
27 ½” from the concrete to the rim.
3. There are two outlets, a thermostat, a light switch and a fire extinguisher on the inside of the upstairs room that will need to be shifted to accommodate the new door location. Conduit for each of the electrical items is mounted on the exterior of the wall.

4. Plumbing for the sink as well as the plumbing for an existing ice machine will need to be re-plumbed to the new “sink area” as shown on the drawings.
5. There is a light and switch, two outlets and an unused disconnect for future loads located on or near the walls of the “sink area” that will need to be relocated. The outlets need to be GFCI protected.
6. Existing loose equipment currently within the sink area and near the stairs will be moved by the
Forest Service prior to the contractor commencing work. Existing shelves within the sink area will not need to be replaced by the contractor.
7. There is an existing light switch located approximately half way down the stairs that will need to be shifted slightly for the new stair location. Electrical conduit is mounted on the exterior of the wall.
8. There is currently an intercom speaker that is mounted to the side of the existing stairs. Wire has been run loosely to the intercom. The speaker will need to be moved to the side of the new stairs and the existing wiring can be used.
9. There were a couple of pictures at the helibase of the original framing. These may be useful for a contractor. These pictures are of the stair and sink area during original framing of the interior of the building. These pictures are NOT representative of the new design but show the wall framing that the door will be relocated in and the original plumbing of the sink.
