QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS
Is decking allowed in meadows? Decking in meadows is allowed provided there are existing roads and old pre-existing log landings. If the meadow is clean from all debris, POL shall not be decked in meadows.
Have units been logged? All units under this contract have been logged prior to this thinning contract. There are small areas that due to terrain or presence of rock that could not be cut and skidded, however the entire unit will be thinned. It is anticipated that small areas exist in some units that will not be able to be skidded due to terrain and rock. These areas will be addressed and approved or disapproved as they arise.
How do we handle the dead, bug infested and blown trees? All dead, and blowdown trees less than 9" DBH are required to be cut and skidded to an approved landing. Bug infested green trees less than 10" DBH shall be cut and skidded to an approved landing. If there are blow down trees in excess of 9" DBH, the contractor can either slash the limbs to a height not to exceed 18" in height, or skid the entire piece to an approved landing and deck with the POL material.
