Wyoming FIA pre-bid call

3/22/2016 10 AM MDT

Participants: Bill Dunning (COR), Paul Velte, Steve Rust

Are Soils plots in the contract? They are included in the bid item with non-soils plots. Adjust bid to cover the additional costs. There are 7 for 2016, 6 for 2017, and 7 for 2018.

Beyond 2016, how are the plots distributed? Should be normal distribution with exception of parts of B-T and C-T. We have Forest Service crews in Afton and Driggs that do those plots that would be close to those duty stations.

There will be nonforest plots in the contract. For 2016-2020 there could be nonforest plots on the C-T portion, for 2019-2020, there will be nonforest plots on the B-T portion. Any nonforest conditions on either the B-T or C-T will be sampled if encountered for all base and option year plots.

Are we contracting any Park Service plots? No, Colorado State will continue to collect data on those ownerships in Wyoming. If that changed, we would consider a separate contract to collect data there.

A previous contract (Idaho) brought up the older manual version when the link was clicked.

This solicitation brings up the correct link. What significant changes have occurred since 6.0?

We now collect tree data on standing dead saplings, depending on the site, this could be significant. Understory vegetation has changed, so that we now collect data on Non-Tally trees if they occur on the plot.

Can I get access to MIDAS? No, MIDAS would allow you access to actual coordinates, and we are prohibited by law from making those available at this time (successful vendor will get access once they agree to confidentiality of data).

Do you expect a fast turnaround once contract closes? Yes, but it will depend on how many bids need to be considered.
