Questions and Answers from Pre-Proposal Meeting April 3, 2013

Solicitation AG-82AT-S-13-0006 IDIQ Cone Collection

Question 1: Can the Bristle Cone and Limber Pine be spurred?

Answer 1: The method to climb each type of tree will be identified in each Task Order.

Question 2: Are all trees preselected?

Answer 2: Yes, and as identified in C.4.2, the method of identification will be identified in each Task Order.

The task order will indicate how the collections will be made (C.4.2.1 Cone Lot Requirements states “Unless otherwise specified…”). The collection options may be; 1) Contractor is provided information on the species in which cones should be collected from, the seed zones, elevation bands and the tree characteristics. In this case the contractor will need to find suitable trees in which cones can be harvested. A second option might require the contractor to collect from trees that have been previously identified by the Forest Service. The contractor may be provided the waypoints to navigate to the base of the tree and/or a map of the collection area.

Question 3: Will we be working with a Forest Service person?

Answer 3: Perhaps, depending on the needs of the Task Order. If a Forest Service employee will be on the ground, that individual will be identified in the Task Order.

Question 4: Can solicitation responses be for one type of service? For example a firm only does motorized climbing, can they only provide a response for the type of service(s) they do?

Answer 4: Yes

Question 5: Will the Government sample the collection?

Answer 5: Yes
