STATEMENT OF WORK
TONTO NATIONAL FOREST
WILDLIFE MONITORING SURVEYS
(YELLOW-BILLED CUCKOO AND SOUTHWESTERN WILLOW FLYCATCHER)
SCOPE OF WORK: The Tonto National Forest (TNF) requires wildlife monitoring surveys to determine population numbers. This monitoring is to document the presence of listed wildlife species (Yellow-Billed Cuckoo and Southwestern Willow Flycatcher) in certain areas impacted based on the ongoing management actions under the existing Plan, as amended. The survey work must be completed using the approved species protocols by the US Fish and Wildlife Service.
LOCATION: Proposed work is specifically located on the Dagger and Hicks-Pikes Peak Range Allotments. Coon Creek on Dagger Allotment would be surveyed from its confluence with the upper Salt River to a point 5 miles upstream. Sycamore Canyon on Hicks-Pikes Peak Allotment would be surveyed where forest canopy exists between the confluence of upper Salt River and approximately 1 miles south of Sycamore Well where forest canopy ends; actual length of survey would be approximately 2 miles.
Both allotments are located north of Globe, Arizona.
To reach Coon Creek on Dagger Allotment travel north from Junction of US Hwy 60 and AZ Hwy 188, approximately 12-14 miles to AZ Hwy 288; then travel northerly on AZ Hwy 288 approximately 5-6 miles to Forest Road (FR) 203, the Cherry Creek Road; then turn right on FR203 and travel approximately 6-8 miles easterly until the road crosses Coon Creek in Section 17.
To reach Sycamore Canyon on Hicks-Pikes Peak Allotment travel north from Junction of US Hwy 60 and AZ Hwy 188, approximately 6-7 miles north to FR 219, the Horseshoe Bend Wash Road via old AZ Hwy 88 through Wheatfield, AZ. Turn right on FR219 and travel approximately 5-6 miles until reaching Sycamore Well in Section 24 approximately where forest canopy begins.
REQUIREMENTS:

These elements are completing field surveys of the two species listed above and incorporating findings into written report describing procedures followed and habitat surveyed from the species survey protocol’s and results found.

• The Contractor shall determine all federal, state and local government requirements related to this SOW.
Any permits/permissions needed to conduct proposed work must be obtained/followed by contractor.
These requirements may conflict at times and may affect project tasks performed by others. The Contractor shall continuously coordinate their work with the Forest Wildlife Biologist throughout this project as required to ensure all requirements are met in regards to the Endangered Species Act. It is estimated that a maximum of two (2) months are necessary to complete a monitoring report.

Agency reserves the right to reject deliverables that do not meet requirements outlined in this SOW. No loss of data integrity or accuracy shall result from any transfer of data. Compressed data shall be in a “self-expanding executable” format. To ensure and verify this level of compatibility, Agency may provide sample of required format(s) to Contractor, and Contractor and Agency may conduct tests of sample deliverables from Contractor, and Agency may provide sample or required format(s) to Contractor.
• Software standards include but are not limited to the following: Microsoft Office (Word and Excel), compatible with Windows 7; Adobe Acrobat, compatible with Reader (Version XI); ESRI ArcMap 10.2.2./10.3.1
