1 FINAL ACCEPTANCE of the roads will depend on functionality of drainage, general uniformity and suitability for normal logging traffic to successfully negotiate the vertical and horizontal alignment.
2 Prior to commencement of any construction activities, utility companies shall be contacted. Buried utilities shall be marked, avoided and protected during construction.
3 Aggregate quantities specified in the contract are "in place" compacted cubic yards (CCY).
5 The Engineer shall review and approve the location of aggregate, grade dips, and rolling dips.
6 All ditches, rolling dips, grade dips, and other drainage control devices shall be constructed to drain.
7 All disturbed areas shall be seeded, including roadbed on 212 spec roads where aggregate surfacing is not required. Surfaces to be seeded shall be sloped to drain and shall be left in a roughened condition. Seeding shall conform to 625. Cost for seeding roadbeds is included in 212.
8 Clearing limits shall be marked with yellow flagging or pink tags and shall be a minimum of 20 feet wide plus additional widths needed for intersections, turnouts and turnarounds as shown on the Descriptions of Work.
10 It shall be the responsibility of the contractor to maintain the haul route(s) controlled by the Forest Service, and repair all damage resulting from his operation.
11 Construction signs shall be placed as follows:
R11-2 placed on Type III Barricade at the beginning of the project.
FW8-6a placed at intersection Moskee Road and CTY-246
FW8-6a placed on NFSR 872.3 just before intersection with NFSR 872.3A
14 The cost for the rolling dip on NFSR 872.3E is included under costs for 872.3A.
15 Existing trees within clearing limits shall be cut, slashed to 18" height and scattered outside the clearing limits.
Grade dips are locations where the road grade slopes uphill in both direction from the grade dip. All grade dips whether called for on the description of work or not shall be out sloped at 5% grade. This will give approximately a
6" drop in elevation across the road.
