NMR specifications

Specifications (General Requirements) for replacement NMR:

500 MHz magnet system (11.74 Tesla) including liquid helium and liquid nitrogen sensors, a stabilization system for magnet pressure and temperature, and a system for suppression of >99% of external perturbations to the magnetic field.

Magnet stand and pneumatic dampening of both vertical and horizontal frequencies >3.8 Hz to less than 0.1 mm/sec2. Site has significant (~7 mm/sec2) vibrations of approximately 42 Hz and moderate (1.5 - 5 mm/sec2) vibrations of approximately 95, 80, 85, 48, 33 and 23 Hz Guaranteed field stability <10 ppb/hr.

Radial stray field of 5G from magnet center <0.6 m.

Axial stray field of 5G from magnet center <1.2 m.

Complete system to be compatible with 10 foot ceiling height; console to fit within 4’ x 30” area; magnet to fit within 5’ x 5’ area; limited additional area is available for auxiliary equipment such as dewars, floor preamps and cabling.

Helium transfer line.

Console with full front access to sub-assemblies and cabling.

3 channels of frequency generation, and requisite amplifiers and preamplifiers. Capability for: 1H and 19F for observe with homo/heteronuclear decoupling, and with a switching module; broadband (6-365 MHz) for observe and decoupling, for both continuous and high power pulse; and 2H for decoupling and gradient shimming.

Capability for programming of experimental sequences including ultra-fast pulse programming, pulse shaping and composite pulse decoupling executable synchronously or asynchronously.

Real time control of up to three magnetic field gradients with real time generation of gradient shapes.

Shim and lock system with cryo shims to third order in z-direction and second order in xy-direction, in addition to full suite of low current shims and gradient shims, and automatic gradient shimming with option for manual shimming.

Digital quadrature detection for elimination of spikes, quad images and 60 Hz interferences, and receiver with very high dynamic range, digital resolution and large bandwidth digital filtering.

Variable temperature assembly and requisite nitrogen separator.

System for measurement of exact temperature within the sample, rather than external thermocouple.

Sample changer for up to 24 samples, accommodating tube sizes from 1 to 10 mm, and allowing for variable temperature gas with integrated sensors.

Automatic tuning and matching accessory.

Set of plastic spinners for 500 MHz or higher.

High sensitivity (1H sensitivity > 730:1), double resonance, room temperature, broadband probe with frequencies between 15N and 31P and 19F, with 1H decoupling, and z-gradient.

Ultra-high sensitivity (1H sensitivity >2500:1), triple resonance, inverse, liquid nitrogen-cooled cryo-probe for 1H observe with 15N and 13C decoupling, as well as 13C observe, and z-gradient.

References and an installation base of at least 10 operational systems, in the central United States, having met all of the above performance criteria.

Installation to be complete within 10 months of awarding contract, providing customer site preparation is fully complete at time of delivery.

All specifications with respect to Signal/Noise, Pulse Widths, Lineshape, Z-gradient and a full suite of experiments shall be demonstrated at installation prior to acceptance, including the standard samples for demonstration of specification compliance.

A support network with more than one engineer servicing Wisconsin.

Balance for monitoring liquid nitrogen levels in cryo-probe dewar, transfer lines for on-the-fly filling, and nitrogen flow regulation and monitoring system.

Complete system installation including all cryogens and rigging and equipment needed for assembly.

Computerized workstation with software for acquiring, processing and plotting 1D, 2D, 3D and 4D data, with 5 additional licenses for processing and 2 floating licenses.

Software for: spectral database building, with a starter database; spectral assignment with search components; system suitability testing.

Complete set of system documentation and at least 16 days tuition of training courses.

At least 1 year warranty period following demonstration of specifications, and warranty is to include both parts and labor.

2 years full service contract to begin at the end of the warranty period, including annual preventive maintenance including hardware updates and upgrades.
