Columbus, Ohio A site showing was held on the subject site on Wednesday, July 13, 2016.

The following information was reviewed with the contractors at the showing, which covered the Construction Specifications, Drawings, and the Site Visit. Please use this information for the preparation of needed amendments to this solicitation.

NOTE: The contractor shall comply with ALL of the specifications (construction and material). In the interest of time, not all of the specifications will be reviewed at this meeting or in the following notes.

I. Overview of Solicitation Packet A. Page 1

1. Bid date – 8/8/2016 @ 1730

2. Contractor will begin work within 7 days of receiving “Notice to Proceed”

3. 60 days to complete contract

B. Bid Schedule

1. Mechanical treatment to remove brush and trees from property line and construction of new fence.

a. Approx. 2855’

C. Section H. Special Contract Requirements

1. Contractor is responsible for complying with all safety requirements. These include, but are not limited to:

a.Contractor must submit a proposed safety plan.

b. Preconstruction safety meeting

c. joint safety meeting

d. 1st aid training certificate.

e. 1st aid kits, stretchers, etc.

f. Hard hats are required

1. Sign must be posted designating area as a “Hard Hat Area”

2. Other signs concerning wage laws, Davis-Bacon Act etc. must also be posted on jobsite.

NRCS will provide these signs.

2. A portable toilet is required on job site.

a. Toilet must be on job site prior to beginning job.

D. Post Award conference

1. Held prior to beginning construction

a. Will go over specific forms and documents required before beginning work.

E. Time Extension for Adverse Weather

1. Contract has that provision

F. Work hrs.

1. Up to 10 hrs. per day, Monday thru Friday. No holidays.

II. Materials and Specifications A. All materials must be new.

1. Contractor will furnish NRCS with a copy of receipt for materials.

III. Non Electric Fence (382) Specs

Quick Reference Checklist

A. Barbwire

1. 12 ½ gauge

2. Must meet ASTM-121 requirements

a. Some wire may be labeled “Commercial” but doesn’t meet ASTM-121 standards.

3. 4 strand

a. Top wire height- 44”

b. Bottom wire height – 18”

1. To facilitate wildlife movement.

B. Line Post

1. Tee post – see specs

2. Steel posts see specs

C. Welded Steel Double H End Brace

1. Pipe may be concreted in ground – see specs

2. Pipe may be driven in ground – see specs

3. Pipe must be capped and painted

D. Gate requirements on pg 5

E. Contractor must notify 1-800-DIGTESS prior to construction. NRCS will provide a form to

Document notification. There is at least 1 pipeline on easement.

IV. Fence Code 382 A. Fence is to be constructed to these specs. It’s a contractors responsibility to know the requirements and ask for clarification if needed. Fences not meeting specs will not be approved and payment will not be made until fence meets all requirements.

V. Quality Control for Fence Construction A. Note Items 4&5 concerning clearing, removal, and disposal.

VI. Plan Map A. Plan map has been revised showing H- brace and gate locations VII. Site Visit Discussion

1. Access road runs very close to landowners home. Be careful and respectful when driving past house.

2. Further inspection of easement boundary indicates that at least 3 additional H-braces will be needed due to abrupt changes in elevation along fence route. These additional

H-brace locations are not noted on plan map. Inspector will designate location of the additional H-braces.
