VALLEY DIVIDE TRAIL

AG-3395-S-17-0015

PRE-BID MEETING

Q/A

1. Q: Is on-site mulching of waste material allowed?

A: On-site mulching is permitted so long as wasted material is disposed of according to the plans and specs.

2. Q: Will the installation of erosion control measures be required?

A: No erosion control measures are called for on the plans and none will be required on the front end. If areas of erosion develop and are identified in response to construction activities, control measures may need to be discussed and employed at that time. Currently, sediment & erosion control measures are not anticipated beyond seeding & mulching.

3. Q: Will borrow areas/material be made available to the contractor if needed?

A: The FS will make a shale borrow pit available as-needed. The borrow pit lies within approximately 5 miles of the project site (see attached map).

4. Q: Will traffic control measures/devices be required?

A: No traffic control is deemed necessary at this time.

5. Q: Is all stone required for this work available on-site as is implied on the plans (native stone)?

A: Enough stone/rock/talus is available within the project limits to construct the rip-rap armoring shown on the plans. Transportation of suitable stone may be required from one area to another. The availability/presence of enough smaller stone, to fill voids and provide a passable surface, is in question, however, a borrow pit will be made available to the contractor.

6. Q: Is the use of machinery allowed to place the required stone?

A: The use of machinery to place stone is acceptable, so long as the finished product meets the plan/specification design standards.

7. Q: How will contractors gain access to gated portions of the project?

A: A combination lock will be installed by FS on gated portions of the project to allow contractor access.

8. Q: Will the FS stake the work on the ground prior to construction?

A: The FS will stake/flag the work on the ground as stated in the plans/specs. It must be understood that the stations assigned on the plans are based off of GPS points and shown primarily for reference of location. The locations of the rolling dips on the road are very approximate and must be verified in the field.

9. Q: Will all work take place outside of the adjacent wilderness area?

A: All work will be performed outside of the adjacent wilderness area.

10. Q: Will the inspector and/or COR be present during fill placement for the optional parking area?

A: The COR will need to be present to inspect the fill lift placement and compaction of the optional parking area.

11. Q: What is the contract time and completion deadline for this work?

A: The contract time for this work is 60 days. Currently, the completion deadline is expected to be set at August 18, 2017.
