SCOTT AIR FORCE BASE NEWS
REAL ID Act Enforcement.
Goodfellow Federal Center, July 01, 2017
In accordance with the REAL ID Act of 2005, visitors, contractors, and delivery drivers seeking access to the Goodfellow Federal Facilities using state driver’s licenses from states not compliant with the Real ID Acct of 2005 will no longer be authorized unescorted access without additional documentation, such as a U.S. passport, starting July 01, 2017.
Visitors, contractors, and delivery drivers not having a Federal ID or other acceptable form of federally recognized photographic identification as required by the Real ID Act of 2005 or the Goodfellow Federal Center Access Policy must be escorted by a sponsor while on the Goodfellow Federal Center.
The REAL ID Act of 2005 enacted the 9/11 Commission’s recommendation that the Federal Government “set standards for the issuance of sources of identification, such as driver’s licenses.” To date, some states and territories have not made adequate progress in meeting these security standards and, therefore, those state driver’s licenses or IDs may not be used for unescorted Federal Center access as of July 1, 2017.
What does this mean? The Federal Center will no longer authorize and approve unescorted visitor passes through the Goodfellow Federal Visitor Control Center for visitors with driver’s licenses or IDs issued by states and territories that are non-compliant with the Real ID Act of 2005.
Without another form of approved identification, visitors must be physically escorted onto the Goodfellow Federal Center by an authorized Goodfellow Federal employee with a Federal Identification Badge. All delivery and transportation companies must also comply with the Act.
The following is a list of acceptable federally recognized photo IDs that can be used in lieu of a driver’s license or ID issued by those states non-compliant with the Real ID Act of 2005.

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Real ID web site will be used to monitor the current status of all states/territories according to the following classifications:
• Compliant States/Territories - states/territories that are compliant with the REAL ID Act.
• Extension States/Territories - states/territories that have an extension through October 10, 2017, allowing Federal agencies to accept driver's licenses and identification cards.
• Limited Extension States/Territories - states/territories that have a limited extension have been provided a grace period by DHS before REAL ID enforcement begins, allowing Federal agencies to accept driver’s licenses from these states/territories through July 10, 2017.
• Under Review - states/territories that are currently under review. REAL ID enforcement will begin on January 30, 2017 if an extension is not granted or compliance is not obtained.
• Non-compliant States/Territories - states/territories that have been found to be not in compliance and Federal agencies will not accept driver's licenses and identification cards.
