GENERAL NOTES
1) Designated disposal areas are identified on the Reconstruction Summary sheets and will be flagged by the CO prior to material placement. Smooth and slope material to drain.
2) Spread government furnished, straw over disturbed soil at all culvert installations, disposal areas and other exposed soil work areas excluding ditches Cover areas completely. Material is available through Middle Fork Ranger District and is located at Flat Creek Work Center 1 mile east of
Oakridge on Road 24. Contact C.O. to arrange for pick up.
3) Replace culverts when stream channels are dry unless dewatering is called for. The dewatering will be deleted if there is no water in stream when the work is done. Instream work period is July
1st through August 15th. Extensions, if needed, may be requested in writing to the CO.
4) Salvage existing aggregate during culvert replacement; use as backfill material.
5) Do not undercut backslopes when cleaning and/or reconstructing ditchlines.
6) Recondition turnouts and curve widening with basic roadbed to dimensions existing on the ground.
7) Remove all berms, existing or created, to allow drainage of water from the traveled way, unless otherwise designated to remain.
8) Rebuild fills over pipe installations with fill slopes having a maximum gradient of 1:1.5 and having at least 1' shoulders.
9) Crushed aggregate is available for purchase from the Forest Service stockpiles located on Road
2136 at mp's 0.56, 4.66, 11.48 and mp 11.51. Contact the Middle Fork Ranger District for mineral permit information.
10) Unsuitable material encountered in excavation is to be hauled to disposal areas. Suitable material is available at MP 2.48 and material from ditch cleaning. Indirect to pay item 25550.
