RFI-014

Is the AC disposal site only for AC Grindings or will AC chunks be accepted at the Seven Mt. Pit?

Answer - The contractor is responsible for disposing of all asphalt that is removed during the construction of Soda and Goose Creek drainage construction off of Government/Forest Service lands. Sheets # 9 of 84 & # 10 of 84 have been revised and are attached to this solicitation amendment.

RFI-015

Goose Creek has a diversion plan for the upstream side, is there a plan for the downstream side?

Answer - The Diversion Plan for the downstream side of Goose Creek is located on sheet #73 of 84. The quantities for the diversion roadway section were based on providing enough material to construct the upstream side diversion roadway so that the pile caps and culvert placement/construction could be completed on the downstream side. Once the pile caps and culvert placement/construction is completed on the downstream side, the pile caps and culvert structure would then be backfilled and asphalt pavement placed on top of the downstream section in order pass 2-way traffic on the downstream side. This will allow for the construction of the upstream side of the pile caps and culvert. The complete Diversion Plan for the Goose Creek drainage construction is located on sheet numbers # 71-73 of 84.

RFI-016

Pay Item 20404 takes care of the upstream division road, Center line shoring will take up to 4 to 5 feet of the road, therefore, addition area on the downstream side will require additional fill material in order to place the upstream section of the culvert. Will this be paid for under Pay Item 20404 also?

Answer – If it is deemed that additional material is necessary to provide for shoring then a contract modification will be executed for the additional material.

RFI-017

Goose Creek center line excavation is 12 feet deep, therefore temporary traffic barriers should be required to protect traffic during construction of both half of the culvert, (taking up more room), how would this be paid for?

Answer – Carsonite Marking Posts have been listed on the Temporary Traffic Control Plan to serve as temporary traffic barriers. These markers require a smaller width to install than Drums, so this will reduce the amount of roadway width needed to pass traffic safely. If it is deemed that Carsonite marking posts are not appropriate and barriers are required then a contract modification will be issued.

RFI-018

Is there a designated Access point or location for equipment to enter the creeks at Goose and Soda, (for placement of logs, stream and fish rocks)?

Answer – There will be two entrance points at each site, one upstream and one downstream of the project. Exact locations will be determined in the field by the Contracting Officer’s Representative.
