1.01 SUMMARY
A. This Statement of Work specifies the proposed upgrades to the Umpqua Beach Picnic Shelter.
B. The Contractor shall be responsible for furnishing all labor, equipment, materials, and incidentals needed to perform the work according to this Statement of Work.
C. All construction activities shall be done in compliance with Oregon Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) guidelines.
D. The Contractor shall be responsible for protecting all existing site improvements. In the event of damage caused by the Contractor to improvements not designated for demolition, the Contractor shall stop all work associated with the damage, notify the Contracting Officer, and repair the damage at the Contractor’s expense.
E. The Contract will involve both Base and Optional work. The Contractor shall bid on both Base and Optional bid items. The Contract will be awarded for the Base bid items at a minimum. Optional bid items will be awarded based on funding available.
F. The finished project shall yield an installation that is safe, secure, durable, functional, and aesthetically pleasing.
1.02 EXISTING CONDITIONS
A. A site visit is encouraged prior to bidding to become more familiar with the structure and the specific connections to be replaced.
B. Refer to the first page of this Statement of Work for a general photo of the existing structure.
C. The facility has been closed to the public since October of 2007 due to concerns about its structural integrity.
D. There is electricity available in the picnic shelter that is available for reasonable use to the Contractor.
E. All steel connections such as column caps, angles, and gusset plates are visibly corroded. In some cases, bolt assemblies are completely rusted through, which allows some components to detach from the timbers:

Attach fiber or gypsum board or base felt with mechanical fasteners approved by the roofing membrane manufacturer. Make sure space fasteners are at a minimum of 1 fastener for every 2 square feet. If the spacing recommended by the manufacturer is stricter for wind uplift rating, comply with the stricter requirement. At the Contractor’s option, the roof insulation and fiber or gypsum board or base felt may be attached with the same fasteners.
3. Apply roofing membrane directly over base felt or fiber or gypsum board by the attachment system recommended by the manufacturer.
Application of membrane including side and edge lap distances shall be in accordance with the roofing membrane manufacturer's recommendations. The roofing membrane shall be adhered over 100 percent of the surface area.
