Redfish Lake Sewer System Improvements Project Pre-Bid Questions and Answers

The following are questions that were proposed during the pre-bid site visit along with questions received by either email or phone. The answers to each question are shown in red.

1. Will the existing electrical transfer switch be removed and replaced?

Answer: No, the existing electrical transfer switch will not be replaced and must be reinstalled in the new building.

2. Is there an existing backup generator and if so will it be replaced?

Answer: Yes, there is an existing generator. No, it will not be replaced.

3. Is there a high probability of having ground water in the trenches that will be excavated near the lake and the pumpstation/restroom building?

Answer: Yes, excavations performed to repair the sewer pipe in these areas in the past have revealed ground water in the trenches. Even during the later parts of the year.

4. Does payment for electrical work include everything from the meter to the structure or does payment also include work required prior to the meter?

Answer: Refer to Section 262713, subsection 1.4. It is the responsibility of the contractor to coordinate with the utility company to determine what components they furnish. All other costs for materials and labor not furnished by the utility company, whether it is after or before the meter, shall be the responsibility of the contractor and should be included in their quote for this type of work.

5. Does the base bid include any existing manhole repairs?

Answer: No, all repairs to existing manholes are included in Option #1.

6. How accurate are the distances from the manholes to the pipe crack repairs indicated on sheets 4 and 5?

Answer: The distances listed on the plans were recorded from a T.V. inspection performed a few years ago on the pipe sections needing repaired. For bidding purposes assume these distances to the sections of pipes needing replaced are still accurate. The lengths of pipe needed to repair the damaged sections extend several feet beyond the damaged areas measured during the T.V. inspection.

7. Do we need to install bollards to protect the new propane tank?

Answer: No, contract does not include the installation of bollards around the new propane tank.
