Scope Study of Tempe’s City-Owned properties including assessment of building conditions, evaluation of workplace layouts, and recommending longterm planning strategy for consolidation and reorganization of municipal workspaces.

Best Practices

• Thorough study of past downtown master plans, building documentation, and Tempe’s strategic plans to ensure flexibility and efficient use of city assets given workforce needs.

• Significant research into post-pandemic workplace practices to inform custom methodology

• Strategic workshops with department leaders to build cohesive solutions while promoting ownership from both staff and leadership.

Lessons Learned

• Use healthy amount of caution for post-pandemic workplace trends and statistics, as not all are fitting for municipal functions.

• Process informed by real estate and workplace planning resources to customize a target “utilization rate” for Tempe operations.

• Created a replicable methodology for accurate engineering assessments and measurement of life-cycle value for building systems.
