About this file
This document is Addendum No. 1, issued September 4, 2026, by the City of Raleigh Engineering Services Department for Informal Bid #274-ES-FO-FY27-OverheadDoorReplacement. The project scope encompasses the complete replacement of eleven overhead doors at the Heavy Equipment Shop, including supply and installation of replacement doors, motors, mechanical components, and control systems. Bidders must submit proposals by Wednesday, September 23, 2026, at 4:00 p.m. EST. A mandatory pre-bid meeting was held prior to the addendum issuance, and building plans are available only to attendees of this meeting. Project completion must occur within 180 consecutive calendar days from the Notice to Proceed. The addendum clarifies that existing welded frames and building support structures remain in place, with only the bolted tracks requiring replacement. All safety sensors and controllers are included in the base bid, though existing burglar alarm sensors must be removed and reinstalled by the contractor. The latest motor specification provided is an RHX Heavy Duty 1 HP motor rated for 208/230/460V 3-phase 60Hz operation, powered by a 3-pole 20-amp breaker.
The bid proposal form requires separate pricing for the Base Bid and Alternate #1 (provision and installation of tinted windows in the overhead doors). Alternate #2, originally included in the solicitation for side-mounted operators, has been removed due to insufficient space constraints identified during the pre-bid meeting. An Owner's Site Conditions Allowance of $5,000.00 is included in the total bid calculation. Contractors are permitted to bring dumpsters onsite. The City reserves the right to reject any or all bids and award the contract to the lowest responsive, responsible bidder. Proposers must acknowledge receipt of this addendum and return the signed addendum with their proposal package. No specific R-values for doors are mandated; contractors must match existing door R-values currently in place.

Questions/Clarifications
1. Are there specific R-Values for the doors?
a. No, just match the existing door R-value.
2. Are safety sensors included?
a. Yes, all safety sensors and controllers are included.
3. Are the burglar alarm sensors included in the bid?
a. No, existing burglar alarm sensors must be removed and reinstalled on the new doors.
4. Does the welded frame need to be removed and replaced?
a. No, the welded frame and support to the building will remain. The tracks bolted to the welded frame are to be replaced and included in your price on this bid.
5. Can a Contractor bring a dumpster onsite?
a. Yes, as this is preferred for this project.
6. Can plans and/or specifications for the overhead doors be provided?
a. Yes, building plans can be provided by request only for those who have attended the mandatory pre-bid. Detailed specifications for the overhead doors are not available.
7. Can the current electric motor compatibility be provided, current amps/volts?
a. The motors have been replaced throughout the years so different brands/types are present but below is the specification of the latest motor that was replaced. They are all fed by a 3-pole 20-amp breaker.
i. RHX – Heavy Duty, 1 HP, 208/230/460V 3Phase 60Hz, Hoist, Extended Limit -Yes, Friction Clutch, Brake, Receiver, Built-In, Std. Motor. Will be set for constant contact to close.

a. Confirmed; complete replacement of the overhead door, motor and all mechanical/control components to be included within the base bid. Only Alternate within this bid is to add extra tinted windows to the overhead door.
9. Can the total number of overhead door replacements be provided?
a. Yes, 11 total overhead doors need to be replaced.
10. It was discussed during the pre-bid meeting that the space was insufficient between the doors for side mounted operator/motor. How many side mounted operators/motors would be needed for the bid alternate #2?
a. Side mount option has been omitted from the bid therefore Alternate #2 has been removed (this is now noted in the ‘Changes’ section of this addendum)
11. Will Alternate#1 for providing Overhead Doors with windows match existing, or is another style/option preferred?
a. Alternate #1 will be windows included that are similar to the picture below and tinted. The base bid will be identical/similar to what is currently existing.
Changes to Original Informal Bid
1. Alternate #2 has been removed from the original scope and is no longer to be included in this bid. Please use the attached Informal Bid Proposal Form when submitting bids.
2. Door replacement quantity has been changed to eleven (11) total doors.
