About this file
This is Addendum No. 1 to a Quick Quote procurement issued by Virginia (the University, located in Virginia) for an in-vessel composting system. The procurement requires complete bids for the manufacture, delivery, installation, and warranty of the composting system, with partial bids declared non-responsive. The unit will be installed on campus off Prince Drew Street at a location currently under design. The bid response is due September 21, 2026, at 2:00 PM EST.
The addendum clarifies several technical and logistical specifications through answers to bidder questions. The University will provide a 240V/1-phase/16A electrical circuit to within 5 feet of the installation site if needed, with the contractor responsible for installing a power disconnect within that distance and for final construction; university electrician assistance is available if required. A covered concrete slab will be available at the installation point. The term "no substitutions" applies to the listed specifications rather than to any specific brand or model preference, allowing bidders flexibility in equipment selection. Freight and delivery charges, along with any discount line items, must be included in the grand total price. The reference specification "partially stabilized compost" in Item 3 has been corrected to "partially stabilized material."

ADDENDUM NO. 1 TO ALL BIDDERS:
Reference: QQ 128319 Commodity: In-Vessel Composting System Dated: September 15, 2026
Bid Response Due: September 21, 2026 at 2:00PM EST
See the information below regarding the quick quote above:
• Item: The reference to “partially stabilized compost” in Item 3 is corrected to “partially stabilized material.”
1) QUESTION: Will the unit be installed at the delivery warehouse (2 Sweetbriar Drive) or at a separate final location on campus? If separate, please identify the location and whether a 240V/1-phase/16A circuit and any required drainage are already in place at that location.
ANSWER: The unit will be installed on campus off Prince Drew St. The location is currently being designed, so no support facilities are currently installed. If a 240V/1-phase/16A circuit is needed, the University will provide it to within 5 feet of the unit.
2) QUESTION: Is the vendor responsible for the electrical connection to the building circuit, or will the University's electricians make the final connection?
ANSWER: As part of the design process the contractor will install a power disconnect within 5 feet of the design location. The installer will be responsible for final construction. If needed, a university electrician can assist.
3) QUESTION: Is a concrete pad or interior floor slab available at the installation point, and is there a required indoor/outdoor placement?
ANSWER: A covered concrete slab will be available.
4) QUESTION: Does "no substitutions" apply to a specific brand or model the University has in mind, or to the specifications listed?
ANSWER: This refers only to the specifications that are listed. No specific brand name or model is preferred.
5) QUESTION: Should the Freight & Delivery and Discount line items be shown separately from the grand total, or included in it?
ANSWER: They should be included in the grand total.
