3. Background The Department of Defense (DoD) continues to pursue operations that increasingly feature speed, flexibility, and agility while reducing environmental impact and lifecycle cost. In like manner, the Air Force is pursuing systems that support and enhance capabilities needed to achieve agile combat objectives and, as a result, organized a summit to gain industry insight into modernizing the SE&V portfolio.
As the future strategic landscape is assessed, the DoD will likely need to operate in a contested environment that emphasizes the need for operational speed, flexibility, and agility. As a result, the United States Air Force (USAF) is pursuing systems that support and enhance Agile Combat Employment (ACE), electrification, Flightline of the Future (FLoF), Aerial Port of the Future (APoF), Digital Engineering, autonomy, and additional innovative initiatives.
To realize the vision for modernization, this forum will provide information on SE&V initiatives, USAF perspectives on modernization, and opportunities for contract awards. Details on the DoD participants, SE&V portfolio and general topics and definitions are provided to better facilitate USAF expectations on industry engagement.
