The primary objective of the system is to provide playback of the site’s award-winning interpretive film with high definition video projection and surround sound audio, and remote start capability. The present system was specified and installed in spring of 2015 and is approaching its five-year use anniversary.

An equipment room is located at the front in a room on the right.
2.1.2. A projection screen is present but was installed in such a way that it makes the captioning of the interpretive film visible to only the first 3 rows of seating in the multi-purpose room.
The contractor shall install a new screen that is acoustically transparent to facilitate the movement of the top channel speaker behind the screen, allowing the projection of the film to be raised without the visual intrusion of the top channel speaker. This action will make the film’s captioning available to more of the multi-purpose room. Distance from the lens face to the screen is 16 feet 4 inches.
2.1.3. The contractor shall provide, integrate, and install an HDMI media player. The HDMI media player shall include closed caption decoding capability for showing captions in the video image.
2.1.4. The contractor shall provide, integrate, and install a minimum 5000 lumen HD laser projector of 1920 x 1080 resolution. The projector installation will include cabling for HDMI connection and equipment needed to facilitate control and operation of the system via HDMI connections if the new projector calls for this.
2.1.5. The contractor shall provide an improved control system. The control system shall include rack mounted touchscreen for system on/off and source selections. Source selection shall include front panel aux, receiver aux, Blue-ray player, digital player, and wall connection.
The contractor shall program the control system so that the park interpretive film may be run automatically on set timer that will also display on a countdown digital display in the visitor center lobby, and that will also allow staff to move easily from running the park interpretive film to doing a ranger guided program or virtual tour in the multi-purpose room and back to the running of the park interpretive film. New controlling system should allow for source switching and equipment control including audio and lighting from the remote control for the system. A touchscreen tablet can be tasked to this duty.
2.1.6. All equipment shall be rack mounted. The rack shall be of metal construction. When populated, the rack should allow for adequate air flow for cooling equipment.
2.1.7. All work will be performed under a single contract as follows:
2.1.7.1. The contractor shall provide a HDMI media player for playback of the interpretive film. This player shall provide the film video image, 5.1 surround sound program audio and provide concurrent playback of a descriptive audio track for Radio Frequency (RF) transmission.

2.1.7.3. The contractor shall provide system operations as follows: During high season the interpretive film shall play on a set schedule determined by the operational requirements; during low season the interpretive film shall play on demand via remote panel or rack mounted pushbutton start; in manual mode a pause function shall be included; switching between high and low season configurations shall be via the touchscreen tablet interface.
2.1.7.4. The contractor shall provide a means for a presenter in the room to connect a laptop and separate audio to the system and control source switching and volume from inside the multi- purpose room. Conduit from the equipment room to the northwest wall is provided. Inputs shall be upgraded to utilize present accepted technology including High Definition Multimedia Interface (HDMI), mini HDMI, Video Graphics Array (VGA) and Audio. Conduit from the equipment room to the left of the projection screen is available for this purpose. The contractor shall provide interface cables and adapters.
