Red Rock Storage Solution – Shipping Containers

Bureau of Land Management Nevada 1 Project Introduction

Project Name: Red Rock Storage Solution – Shipping Containers Address:

BLM-SNDO

4701 North Torrey Pines Drive Las Vegas NV 89130

1.1 Location of Facilities

The Red Rock Canyon’s only developed campground is located two miles east of the Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area Visitor Center on W. Charleston Blvd (State Route 159). The campground is located one mile south on Moenkopi Road from the junction with W. Charleston Blvd. Its physical address is 3293 Moenkopi Road, Las Vegas, NV 89161.

In addition to 80 public campsites, the campground houses a maintenance area, several storage sheds, and staging space for large equipment, like reader boards, UTVs, and building material.

Short Description of Required Services Proposed are six shipping containers to serve as a storage solution for Red Rock Canyon NCA. The container’s dimensions should approximate: exterior 40’ x 8’ x 8.5’, double-door opening 7’9” x 7’5” (slightly larger or smaller will be sufficient), and 300 sq feet. We are requesting delivery and placement of the containers.

They will house equipment, tools, building material, utility vehicles, and other miscellaneous items. Additionally, the containers will be used to store office furniture, archived material, electronics, and fixtures while the Admin Building is remodeled.

The shipping containers will be placed in two different areas in the Red Rock Campground. Area 1 in the main maintenance area near the Camphost Office. Area 2 is near the authorized personnel campsite & storage space. Area 1 will house 4 shipping containers, while Area 2 houses two. Both areas will be prepped in-house before the containers will be delivered.

New or used shipping containers will be sufficient, contingent on the condition. If used containers are chosen, they should be free of dirt and rust, have properly working doors with rust-free hinges, tight Seels to prevent rodents and water from entering, locking mechanisms that freely move from the open to locked position, clean, and free of dust, dents, cracks, holes.

Additional Specifications:

· Container color should be an earth tone that blends in with the Red Rock landscape: beige, light brown, light orange, light gray, or light green. All units should be the same color.

· Containers should have two opening doors on the front and back of the units. Side doors are not required but will be acceptable if necessary. One rolling door on one side of each container will be sufficient, however, not required.

· The container floors would ideally be flat; however, a ribbed floor surface will also be acceptable.

Purpose Currently, the storage sheds in the Red Rock Campground are deteriorating. They would require significant renovation to remain functional. Renovations would include new flooring and roofing. Furthermore, the sheds are regularly inhabited by rodents and susceptible to wind/weather damage. Hence, shipping containers will serve as a cost-effective replacement.
