About this file
This is a product specification document for survey monuments, caps, and markers used in wetlands and surveying applications. The document details six distinct product types: drivable aluminum monuments designed for wetlands with 3" diameter aluminum survey caps and 2" diameter aluminum pipes (30" long) featuring cast aluminum base points and permanent ceramic magnets; drivable steel monuments with stainless steel rods (9/16" diameter, 30" long) and forged bronze caps with powerful magnets and stainless steel flanges; aluminum drive-in survey monuments with 3" diameter series 6000 aluminum caps and 1" diameter aluminum pipes (30" long) with ceramic magnets and optional stamped center points; 2" diameter aluminum caps for 5/8" rebar featuring series 6000 aluminum construction with SureGrip plastic insulators and deep hex sockets; 2" diameter aluminum caps for 3/4" rebar with identical features to the 5/8" variant; and steel nail markers (3" length with 1" convex tops) imprinted with "SURVEY MARK" for use in blacktop. All products emphasize durability, corrosion resistance, and precision marking capabilities with optional stamping specifications.
This specification document supports a pre-solicitation sources sought announcement (Solicitation Number 140F0S26Q0021) issued by the Department of the Interior Fish and Wildlife Service for survey monuments, caps, and markers. Interested vendors must respond to Robert_Sung@fws.gov with their CAGE Code, Unique Entity ID, and evidence of manufacturing capability or authorized reseller status for equipment comparable in price and quality to Berntsen products, with successful U.S. survey work experience required for resellers.

· 3 ¼" diameter aluminum survey cap
· 2" diameter aluminum pipe, 30” long
· Cast aluminum base point
· Cone-shaped point is fluted for easy installation
· Point tapers out to a diameter larger than the diameter of the pipe to deter removal
· Cap and base are held to the pipe with aluminum rivets
· Permanent ceramic magnet located in the survey cap
Drivable Steel Monument with Bronze Cap Drivable monument with stainless steel rod and bronze cap
· 3 ½" diameter forged bronze survey cap
· 9/16" diameter stainless steel rod, 30” long with pointed tip
· Powerful magnet installed on top of rod
· Stainless steel flange that anchors the monument firmly in the ground welded to the rod
Aluminum Drive-in Survey Monument
· 3¼" (83mm) diameter series 6000 aluminum survey cap
· 1" (50mm) diameter aluminum pipe, 30" long with pointed tip.
· Cast aluminum base point
· Cap and base are held to the pipe with aluminum rivets

· Cap should be stamped as shown below
· 3/16" Letters
· Optional stamped center point
2" diameter Aluminum Cap for 5/8" Rebar
· Survey cap for rebar forged from 6000 series aluminum which is highly resistant to chipping, cracking and breaking.
· Feature SureGripT plastic insulator that locks the cap tight on to the rebar or pipe and helps prevent dissimilar metal corrosion.
· Feature a deep hex socket that won't "wobble" when tapped on to the rebar.
· Cap should be stamped as shown below
· 1/8" Letters
2" diameter Aluminum Cap for 3/4" Rebar
· Survey cap for rebar forged from 6000 series aluminum which is highly resistant to chipping, cracking and breaking.
· Feature SureGripT plastic insulator that locks the cap tight on to the rebar or pipe and helps prevent dissimilar metal corrosion.
· Feature a deep hex socket that won't "wobble" when tapped on to the rebar.
· Cap should be stamped as shown below
· 1/8" Letters
Steel Nail Marker with SURVEY MARK imprint
