About this file

This document is a Description of Requirement (DOR) for a federal contract opportunity to provide strain gauge amplifiers to support accelerated pavement testing at the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers' Geotechnical and Structures Laboratory.

The requirement calls for six strain gauge amplifiers that meet specific technical specifications, including support for various strain gauge transducer configurations, selectable completion resistors, and high sampling rates. The amplifiers are to be delivered to the Hangar 2 facility in Vicksburg, Mississippi. The related federal contract opportunity, Solicitation Number W912HZ24Q8470, is a Request for Quote (RFQ) issued as a simplified acquisition with a small business set-aside. Offers are due by August 8, 2024 and will be evaluated on lowest price and technical capability. The government intends to award a contract without discussions.

Description of Requirement

Strain Gauge Amplifier

PR&C: W81EWF41348470

Purpose and Scope

The Geotechnical and Structures Laboratory (GSL) Airfields and Pavements Branch (APB) conducts accelerated pavement testing (APT) at the Hangar 2 accelerated pavement test (APT) facility in

Vicksburg, Mississippi. To accomplish this mission, GSL monitors instrumentation response via embedded pavement transducers. Strain gauge amplifiers are required to support these instrumentation response efforts.

Requirement

The strain gauge amplifier shall meet the following requirements.

Strain gauge amplifier shall be a Model MX1615-PAKAP meeting the following requirements:

1. Supports strain gauge transducer technologies in ¼, ½, and full bridge configurations.

2. Supports strain gauge based transducers, potentiometers, resistance thermometers, or normalized voltage (±10 V).

3. Shall have a selectable internal 350 or 1000 ohm completion resistor.

4. Bridge excitation shall be direct current (DC) or 1200 hertz (Hz) carrier frequency.

5. Shall have a 16 channel input isolated from the power supply.

6. Sample rates shall be a minimum of 0.1 samples per second up to 20,000 samples per second.

7. Communication requirements: 1 X Ethernet; 2 x Firewire

8. Shall have automatic transducer identification.

9. A total of six (6) units are required.

The strain gauge amplifiers shall be delivered to:

U.S Army Corps of Engineers
