About this file

This is a Questions and Answers document regarding NASA Shared Services Center's solicitation (80NSSC25895828Q) for De-Binding and Sintering Furnaces for Ceramic Additive Manufacturing. The document contains technical clarifications about the furnace requirements, including delivery timing (beginning of June 2025), material processing details (ceramic AM greenware only, no organics), and operational parameters.

Key technical specifications discussed include: exhaust system requirements (back-mounted exhaust acceptable, with exhaust into high bay room through water bucket filtration), temperature requirements (sintering at 1720°C for 90 minutes maximum, debinding at 615°F for 120 minutes), and equipment compatibility with a laser-based 3D printer (specific model restricted by NSSC). The exchange appears focused on gathering information to properly quote and configure the furnace systems for NASA's specific ceramic additive manufacturing application.

Text version

Is there a specific date your customer needs the furnace delivered by?

Beginning of June 2025

Can your customer please share the esmated amount or organics that will be placed in the furnace?

No organics only ceramic AM greenware

If possible, can your customer please share what 3D printer they have?

According to the NSSC, no. I believe I can say it is a laser based 3d printer

We would like to inquire about the contract ID - 80NSSC25895828Q for the DE binding and Sintering furnaces. We would like to beter understand the off gases coming from your material. We need to understand your exhaust system expectaons for this project.

The unit will be housed in a high bay. Exhaust into the room is allowable per our environmental hygienist. We will run the exhaust tube through a water bucket in order to catch any solids that might come through.

We have a couple of opons with exhaust out of the top or out of the back of our furnace. We can quote the project and refine this queson later.

Out of the back I do need to know the amount of me your project needs to see the temperatures required in both furnaces? 30 min @ 1700 C.

The exact schedule is sensive however the most extreme is 1720C for 90 minutes in the sintering and 120 min at 615F for debinding. There are mulple plateaus and holds, those are the most extreme.
